Inzake deze discussie of je non-brandvrije en dus non NOMEX of van niet ARAMIDE-vezels opgebouwde badges mag aanbrengen op je FIA gekeurde raceoverall, een excerpt van de Stand 21 site.
Stand 21 is een leverancier van race uitrusting. O.a. dus ook racekleding.
Waar het op neer komt is dat de badge
- Van niet brandbaar materiaal is gemaakt: Aramide vezel materiaal dus (Nomex is daar een handelsnaam van)
- De badge derhalve aan een certificering moet voldoen, met name de achterkant, het raakvlak dus met je brandvrije racepak
- Bij aanbrengen je de badge enkel mag aanbrengen/ stikken door de bovenste/ buitenste laag van je pak
- Het garen/ stiksel voor het aanbrengen tevens gecertificeerd moet zijn. Garen moet brandwerend zijn
- Badges gestikt moet worden en niet opgestreken of geplakt

Equipment certified under the FIA 8856-2000 standard will provide better protection against heat and flames, while still insuring a maximum comfort for the driver.
For maximum protection, it is advised to wear all of the Aramid underwear: long sleeves turtleneck, long pants, balaclava and socks.
The main points of the new standard:
- It is forbidden to change the raw material and manufacture
- Design elements (stripes, piping…) must be in Aramid fabric (ISO 15025A standard)
- Embroideries must be solely made on the outside layer of the overall
- Badge background must comply with ISO 15025 standard and be flame resistant
- Thread used to attach badges must comply with ISO 15025 standard and be flame resistant
- Heat sealing of badges is forbidden
- Epaulettes are compulsory
- For shiny material, panel overstitching is mandatory
